Remember Bro. Cervantes.

Posted by Ed C. Olifernes on July 23, 2010 at 1:17 AM

Having much free time in Pasay City it has been my habit to always visit our website. As I was reading the list of our fallen brothers I missed reading the name of  one of ours who in his life was very bubbly and was actively involved in the affairs of our lodge.  He was, in his life,  an IRRI employee and perhaps most of the brothers who used to work at IRRI also know him.  I forgot his first name and his death came at a time when I myself was inching my way to resurrection after my bout with stroke.  I was told he died from a freak accident somewhere in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. His name was Bro. Cervantes.  It is my wish that his name be included among the list of those we ought to remember as part of our Masonic family.

Thank you very much.

Oh yes. I stand corrected for the slip. I have erred in addressing Bro. Larry as "Bro. Rolly Parungao, PM instead of Bro. Larry Parungao, PM. I learned from Bro. Larry before that cremation was done on Bro. Jun's body.

I think that it was probably Bro. Larry Parungao who informed you, not Rolly Parungao. But there was a Bro. Rolly Ramos, who died last year. I was able to come to his wake at St. Therese.
By the way, Jun is interred at the St. Therese Columbary. My family opted to cremate his remains.

Sister Nona congratulations for having intelligent kids. It's good to know that everything is well with you and your family. I did not have much time to fellowship with Bro. Jun then because I was always on official trips while I was working for DOST-FPRDI and later on I was enticed to join private job postings which makes me very scarce duribg Lodge meetings. Actually I assume it was Bro. Jun's10th Anniversary since it's already 10 years now that I suffered from stroke. I learned of his death then through a text message from Bro. Rolly Parungao, PM, who was so persevering in his efforts to communicate with me and in keeping me abreast with the goings-on in Makiling Lodge. I hope one day your sons Nicolo and Paulo will join freemasonry like what their father did in his lifetime. I know Bro. Jun is happy where he is now knowing that his children have got the education every father desires

Thank you also Sister for taking the time to read my post which I did more than one year ago.

His name is Feliciano A. Cervantes. He is better known as Jun. He was with IRRI for 24 years in 2001. It is his 10th death anniversary this 2011.
He has three children. All the kids attended UP Diliman, Quezon City. Andrea, the eldest, graduated Bachelor of Fine Arts Industrial Design, cum laude. Nicolo Lorenzo graduated Bachelor in Library and Information Science, cum laude - 3rd placer 2010 Board Exams for Librarians. Paulo Miguel is graduating this October, 2011 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Community Development.
This is is his wife and we 're still residing in Mayapa, Calamba, Laguna.
I think some brothers dropped by the house last July 23, 2011, unfortunately I was at work. Thank you for the visit and the fruits/pasty which we enjoyed. Best regards.
